Proposed Half-Day Strike by Teachers
As you know, teachers have been engaged in Action Short of Strike (ASoS) for a number of months. You will most likely know from the news that there is a half day strike proposed by teachers for Tuesday 21 February.
We will be closed for mid-term from Monday 13th February until Monday 20th February (inclusive). Pupils were due back on Tuesday 21 February. We have been awaiting guidance from EA with regard to this situation for a few weeks now, but have yet to receive this.
We met with Governors this afternoon, as we felt it was important to let you know as early as possible what is being proposed for Sperrinview.
The proposal is:
• The school will be closed until 12 noon on Tuesday 21 February.
• The kitchen staff MAY be asked to prepare a simple packed lunch style lunch for those who require it.
• Parents will be asked to confirm if their child requires lunch.
• School timings will remain the same – ie pupils under 8yrs old will still go home at 1.10pm.
All of this is subject to change once the EA guidance is made available. I apologise that I cannot give you any more definite information, but until the EA guidance is received, this is the best we can do.
We thank you, as always, for your understanding and co-operation
