Dear Parent/Principal/SENCo/PG leader, my name is Anne Marie McCloskey, hopefully some of you will remember me from the not-too-distant past, working as an Autism Advisory Officer. I no longer work in that capacity but have set up my own business, as an Independent Autism Consultant and run under the business name of Autism Solution NI (you can find via Facebook).
I recently carried out parent training and the feedback from it was both astonishing and humbling.
After the training I had been contacted by a few people within education about the possibility of enrolling in training, so I have decided to run a similar course, open to anyone and everyone; Parents/Principals/Teachers/LSA’s/SENCo’s/Community group leaders, basically anyone who has an interest in getting independent up to date training in Autism.
I thought this would be a good opportunity to inform you about this course, just in case there was someone within your school or playgroup who would benefit from attending.
It’s a 5-week course on "The Key Elements of Accepting Autism"(The main theme being IMPACT)
Please Note. This is an in-person event and will be held each night at The Elk Complex, Toomebridge
Week 1 - What you need to know about Autism and its impact (11th May 6.30pm - 8.30pm)
Week 2 - The immediate impact of meltdown and what to do (18th May 6.30pm - 8.30pm)
Week 3 - The long-term impact of meltdowns/shutdowns (25th May 6.30pm - 8.30pm)
Week 4 - Sensory impact (1st June 6.30pm - 8.30pm)
Week 5 - The undervalued impact of communications and visuals (8th June 6.30pm - 8.30pm)
Each session is £25 or offer of £100 if you go to all 5(which I highly recommend)
