A Science Hat Trick for Sperrinview!
On Wednesday 26 June, pupils from Senior School in Sperrinview attended 'The Big Bang Fair' at The University of Ulster in Jordanstown to compete in 'The Special Schools Challenge Programme'. This is third time Sperrinview have competed in the competition in which they demonstrated their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills in 'measurement'. They used a hand-crafted air freshener, 'Spring Fresh', which they manufactured for a Young Enterprise project to show the judges how to measure weight, capacity and length. The team beat off stiff competition from six other Special Schools across the province (of mixed abilities) to win the trophy for a third time! During this season of 'The World Cup', Sperrinview have scored their very own HAT-TRICK as this is the third year they've won the top prize - they remain undefeated in their challenge so far! In fact they've won every time they've attended the event. Sperrinview are no strangers to victory as this is the fifth award they've won on the back of 'Spring Fresh' this year. Well done Calum and Ronan who are pictured! A big thanks must also go to Mr Cotton from Drumglass High School and Miss Windrum from DUNBIA, Dungannon for their help and support throughout the year.
