Sperrinview do the Double!!!

16th Feb 2017

On Friday 10 February, Sperrinview Special School brought home not one, but two awards from the Young Enterprise Trade Fair, held at Rushmere Shopping Centre! The Young Enterprise team, trading as ‘Greenfingers’, worked in partnership with Drumglass High School’s Technology and Design department (Mr S. Cotton) to manufacture an Air Freshener for the Spring market, called ‘Citrus Infusion’. Priced at £1 per unit, Citrus Infusion blends fresh fragrances of Spring (lemon and lime) and can be used in the home or car. ‘Greenfingers’ were delighted to have the support of a Business and Marketing Advisor from Dunbia (Mrs K. Birnie), who collaborated with the team to assist with marketing, design and financial elements of the product. Such was the popularity of Citrus Infusion, the team sold over one hundred and forty units inside an hour and a half at the trade fair. After selling out, the team enjoyed a well-deserved lunch and walk around the other stalls.

The fruits of their labour came to pass when the team walked away with not one, but two awards from the trade fair. The first was for ‘Best Product’, beating off competition from thirty-four other companies on the day. Fearing they would be late back to school, the team were about to leave Rushmere when they heard their name, ‘Greenfingers’, announced for a second time. This time winning ‘Best Overall Company’ within the Team Programme of Young Enterprise. This is the second consecutive year ‘Greenfingers’ have won ‘Best Overall Company’ at the trade fair in Rushmere –  only the second known company in the history of Young Enterprise to ever achieve this. Well done Sperrinview!
